Stan Bergheim is a licensed clinical psychologist with over three decades of work experience in mental health. He’s been trained in various psychotherapy schools and certified as a teacher/supervisor in two of them: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Between 2015 and 2018, he coordinated a clinical research project at Akershus University Hospital in Norway. The project focused on an integrative treatment for recurrent depression, combining CBT, ACT, and Compassion-Focused therapy into one coherent intervention, known as Emotional Safeness Therapy. This project subsequently led to the development of the Matrix of Wellbeing.

Between 2013 and 2018, he presented his work at twelve international conferences on three continents.

Recently, he has been working on further developing the Matrix together with digitally and AI-supported e-health technologies.
